About photo session in Dominican Republic
A Day in the Life of a Corporate Photography Session
It’s a crisp morning in Punta Cana, and I arrive at the headquarters of a thriving company, my camera bag slung over my shoulder and a plan in mind. Today, I’ll be photographing their team—70 professional portraits that will showcase their employees’ confidence, professionalism, and unique personalities. The goal? To create a collection of images that will elevate their brand and give their team a polished, cohesive look.
Setting the Scene
The company has chosen to host the session on-site, transforming a bright, spacious conference room into a temporary photography studio. Large windows let in soft, natural light, perfect for creating clean, professional portraits. I set up my equipment: a backdrop in a neutral tone (a classic gray that complements any outfit), my camera on a tripod, and a reflector to soften shadows. The atmosphere is relaxed but professional, with a playlist of soft background music to help everyone feel at ease.
The First Subject: The CEO
The session begins with the CEO, a confident leader who wants a portrait that conveys authority and approachability. We start with a traditional headshot—shoulders squared, a warm smile, and direct eye contact with the camera. The result is a powerful image that radiates leadership. Next, we try a more casual pose: arms crossed, a slight tilt of the head, and a thoughtful expression. This shot will be perfect for his LinkedIn profile, showcasing both his professionalism and his personality.
The Team: A Mix of Personalities
As the morning progresses, employees begin to filter in, one by one. Each person brings their own energy and style to the session.
The Marketing Manager: She’s vibrant and creative, so we experiment with a few dynamic poses. One shot captures her mid-laugh, her genuine smile lighting up the frame. Another shows her standing confidently, holding a tablet, as if she’s in the middle of a brainstorming session.
The IT Specialist: He’s a bit camera-shy at first, but after a few minutes of conversation, he relaxes. We take a straightforward headshot, his glasses catching the light just right, giving him a sharp, tech-savvy look.
The Sales Team: They’re a lively group, so we mix traditional headshots with a few team photos. One shot captures them standing side by side, their camaraderie evident in their smiles. Another shows them seated around a table, deep in discussion, as if they’re strategizing their next big deal.
The Details That Matter
Throughout the session, I pay close attention to the little details that make each portrait stand out:
The way the light catches someone’s eyes, adding depth and warmth to the image.
The subtle tilt of a head that makes a pose feel natural and approachable.
The confident posture of an executive, exuding authority and trust.
The genuine smiles of team members, reflecting their passion for their work.
The Final Shots
By the end of the day, I’ve captured a diverse collection of images:
Classic headshots for LinkedIn profiles and company directories.
Casual, approachable portraits for “About Us” pages and internal communications.
Dynamic team photos that showcase collaboration and teamwork.
Environmental shots of employees at their desks or in common areas, adding a sense of authenticity to the collection.
Presenting the Photos
A week later, I return to the company to present the unedited photos. The team gathers around as I project the images onto a screen. There’s a buzz of excitement as they see themselves and their colleagues in a new light. The CEO’s portrait commands attention, the marketing manager’s vibrant energy shines through, and the IT specialist’s quiet confidence is perfectly captured. The team photos spark laughter and nostalgia, reminding everyone of the strong bonds they share.
The Impact
These 70 photos will soon be used across the company’s website, LinkedIn profiles, and marketing materials, creating a cohesive and professional visual identity. But more than that, they tell a story—a story of a talented, diverse team working together to achieve great things.
